  • Greek mystic turns voice of God into a bestseller

It's impossible to predict what books will fly off the shelf now. If in 2014 someone had told us that a book about chatting with God would be a best seller we would have told them to lie down in a darkened room. But a book by Vassula Rydén, an Egyptian born former diplomat's wife, has proved us wrong. In this August 2015 article from Publishing Perspectives she talks about her encounters with the deity. Do we believe her? Really what matters is whether she believes in her own experience. She may be a charlatan, a snake oil merchant for the digital age. She may be deluded mistaking her own febrile imagination for the divine. Or she may really be a conduit for the voice of God. The friction between these possibilities, the yearning for transcendence are part of what makes this book fascinating. Check her out and let us know what you think. Or ask God for her view.
